Hello September! A quick guide to styling your home for Autumn
We don't know about you, but we love it when that magical moment finally comes when your husband says 'go on then love, you can pop the heating on'. But we also love Autumn because it gives us a chance to update our home with fantastic home textiles including velvet cushions, new light arrangements and of course, some amazing new pieces of furniture.
This year we're opting for a real bit of added luxury and we're still digging rich, jewel like tones for our homes. With our own signature range of cushions, we have to admit that we're a little bit spoilt for choice when it comes to picking the colours. But my co-owners favourite at the moment is this amazing oversized 55cm x 55cm dark navy trimmed and teal velvet cushion. She's got some mega amounts of blues and greys going on in her home and whilst she likes it look cool and clean-cut during the summer months, she loves adding texture and warmth in the colder days.
For me personally? Well who doesn't love a bit of bright! I love this rich raspberry pink colourway which goes with my much more eclectic approach to home styling.
Velvet is by far one of the best ways to introduce visual texture into your home - in fact, cushions of differing sizes, patterns and textures almost always work together - you don't really need a theme.
But of course, us ladies all know that throws and blankets are normally strategically placed around the home (if you're like my sister, they are apparently 'show throws' and NOT for use!). Throws add depth but they also add interest to your living spaces.
I am currently in love - and may have purchased a few - with these extra large Cotswold Throws which come in a variety of colours but my favourite, is this one here - with a pale blush pink and cream stripe. Its seriously cosy and at only £30 it's affordable enough to have a couple strewn around ready to snuggle up as the colder nights draw in.
Lastly, as the dark nights start to arrive, nothing can create atmosphere in your home better than lighting - and I'm specifically talking about table lighting in particular here.
This amazing gold legged flamingo table lamp came with a bright fuchsia pink shade. I had my eye on it. Unfortunately, they all sold quicker than I could tap in that special four digit code on my card - although my husband was pleased as apparently a flamingo table lamp isn't a necessity whilst we're trying to save money to finish off our extension. But what does he know?
